The Planning Department has recently completed two new documents intended to guide applicants through the Township's review and approval processes.
The Residential Development Guidebook has been developed to be a valuable resource for homeowners, builders, and contractors with plans for an improvement on a residential property. The Guidebook is intended to provide information on the approval process for projects such as new home construction, additions, demolitions, detached structures (sheds, pole barns, detached garages), attached structures (decks, attached garage), fences, and pools.
The Site Plan & Development Guidebook is intended to be a guide for commercial property owners, developers, and business owners with plans for new commercial construction, expansion, occupying an existing space, and/or new business signage. The Guidebook includes valuable information on the Townships review and approval processes for site plans, planned developments, special land uses, and sign permits.
Our hope is that anyone interested in a residential or commercial project can review the section of either guidebook applicable to their project online and on their own time, so that when they are ready to come to Township Hall to discuss the project, they already have a firm sense on what is required and what the procedures are.
Both guidebooks will continually be reviewed and updated to make them as useful a resource as possible. The Planning Department is always happy to answer any questions, and to take suggestions on how the guidebook can be improved.
