We are getting reports of very loud sounds coming from the Parshallville area.  We've learned that Enbridge is installing a pipe under the wetlands along Linden Road.  There may also be strong odors associated with the installation.  The township is not a part of this project.  Please contact Enbridge directly with questions -- including estimated duration -- by calling Terri Larson at (877) 496-8142.  The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MEDQ) is onsite and overseeing this work.

Planning for phase II of Settlers Park is underway and input from the community is needed.  Township Supervisor Bill Fountain and Public Works Director Bob West will host "Coffee with the Township" at Kahuna Coffee on Thursday, June 20 at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesday, June 26 at 6 p.m. to hear your thoughts on the next phase.  Bring your wish list for this community recreational hub!

M-59 Road Construction

 Beginning on June 15, 2013 and continuing through November, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be resurfacing both lanes of M-59 from Old US-23 west to Oakway Drive.  At least one lane will be open along this 8.1 mile stretch at all times.  MDOT anticipates that the bulk of this work will be conducted during weekends, although lane closures during weekdays are expected.  In addition to the resurfacing, a center left turn lane will be constructed on M-59 at Kellogg Road.  There are future plans to add a center left turn lane at Hacker Road, but that will not be completed this year.  For further information, visit MDOT's website at michigan.gov/mdot or you may call the Brighton Transportation Service Center at (810) 227-4681.

Starting April 1, 2013, the Livingston County Sheriff's Department (LCSD) will resume basic road patrol service in Hartland Township.  The extra patrols and level of service previously contracted for was deemed to be too expensive for the level of benefit received, while average response times were not notably better than neighboring townships.  We thank LCSD for their years of additional service and look forward to receiving the same high quality response that our neighbors enjoy.  Hartland Township will continue to work with its partner, Tyrone Township, in order to identify other options to deliver improved law enforcement.

Hartland Township is offering three large development-ready properties for sale.  All three are vacant former agricultural parcels in prime locations offering excellent accessibility and visibility.  Two properties are along M-59 at Pleasant Valley / Fenton Roads, and the third consists of two contiguous parcels on the northeast corner of Clyde and Runyan Lake Roads.

Hartland Township acquired all three at the State’s tax foreclosure sale in September 2011.  The buyer will assume the purchase price as well as the remaining principal balance on the public sewer assessment.
