"2006 Clerk of the Year"

Ann Ulrich, CMC, is graduate of Fordson High School in Dearborn;
Eastern Michigan University and Michigan State University's Michigan
Municipal Clerk's Institute.
Currently, Clerk Ann Ulrich serves as 1st. Vice President for the Michigan Municipal Clerk's Association and chairs the MAMC Legislative Committee. She is also serving for a 2nd year as President of the Livingston County Cerk's Association.
Prior to running for office, Mrs. Ann Ulrich,CMC, taught High School
and worked 18 years as a University Administrator. She was elected
Hartland Township Clerk in November of 2000 and re-elected in 2004. Among her most noteworthy
accomplishments are the improvement of the State of Michigan's Qualified
Voter File (QVF) and the purchase and implementation of Electronic
voting equipment, Accu-Vote Other accomplishments include creation
of the Clerk's Corner column in Community Life, spearheading design
and implementation of the Hartland's official web page; facilitated
the sewer expansion to Genesee County; member of the M-59 expansion/interchange
committee, M-59 Beautification committee, worked with the United States Post Office, attempting
to obtain Hartland mailing address for residents, reorganization
of the Clerk's office to maximize efficiency; conducted voting classes
for 8th grade students and visited the Hartland High School to encourage
young people to register to vote.
Looking to the future, she would like to
improve on communications and programs to assist the public's awareness
on the voting process and will continue working with Hartland Schools
to bring awareness to students about the importance of voting and
becoming involved in their community. Clerk Ann Ulrich, CMC is a
24 year Hartland Township resident.

The Township Clerk's office is to act as a day-to-day liaison between
the public and the Township Board for the purpose of managing the
operations of the township. The office of Township Clerk is an elected
board position, responsible for keeping the township's documents
and records, the preparation of agendas and minutes of the township
board meetings. The clerk is also responsible for the care and upkeep
of the township cemeteries, compilation and publication of the Clerk's
Corner (The monthly article in Community Life), updating and publishing
the changes in the Zoning and Code Ordinances, approves, signs and
records all vouchers for payment from budget accounts and monthly
financial statements. Additional duties include overseeing the development,
update, and maintenance the township internet website, and administering
the Oath of Office for all Township elected or appointed offices
and Firemen. In addition, the township's records retention, storage,
and timely destruction are handled by the Clerk's office. One of
the primary statutory functions of the Township Clerk is to encourage
and educate the public on voter registration, to maintain all voter
registration records for Hartland Township and Hartland Consolidated
Schools, as well as being responsible for all aspects of elections,
including the training of election inspectors. The Clerk's Office
conducts all elections in accordance with State and Federal law.
On an annual basis the township clerk visits the Ore Creek middle
school to instruct students about voting and visits Hartland high
school to register prospective voters as well as encourage all registered
voters to vote.
The regular meetings of the Hartland Township Board for the
year 2008 will be held on the following dates at 7:00 p.m. at the
Hartland Township Hall, 2655 Clark Road, Hartland, MI 48353,
(810) 632-7498. All meetings are open to the public.
