Dear
Ann,
Q:
Has the Governor postponed the M-59 expansion project?
A: When I read this news in a local paper, I was also perplexed.
I spoke with Sen. Valde Garcia, Rep. Joe Hune and the Road Commission. I
was assured by all that while the plans to widen M-59 have indeed been halted,
the US-23-M-59 interchange & Bridge project has not been affected and
will be completed as originally scheduled.
Q:
When will Bergin Road be paved? :
A. The Township Board hired & paid the Livingston County Road
Commission to obtain engineering specifications, a required first step of
any paving project. After obtaining the engineering specs, realistic cost
estimates clearly illustrated that insufficient developer funds, coupled
with a need, in excess of the 25% customarily contributed to Township road
projects would be required, to pave Bergin Road. With State Budget cuts
affecting Township revenue sharing, the Bergin Road paying project, most
likely will continue to remain as a future plan.
