A Notary Public is a person who is authorized by the state to witness and verify the signing of legal documents. Documents are notarized to deter fraud and to ensure they are properly executed.  They act as an impartial witness to confirm the signer’s identity.  To identify the signer, the Notary will ask to see a current identification document or card with a photograph, physical description, and signature.  A driver's license, military ID or passport are acceptable in most cases.

Hartland Township provides notary public service at no charge to residents, taxpayers, and business owners.

Please DO NOT SIGN your documents until the Notary advises you to do so.
