Dog Licenses

Dog License

The State of Michigan requires by law that all dogs age four months and older must be licensed. A dog license can be purchased at the Hartland Township Office or the Livingston County Treasurer’s Office located at  200 E. Grand River Ave. Howell, MI 48843.  Refer to the following link for their office hours and information https://www.livgov.com/treasurer

OPTIONS

1) NEW! Apply for a dog license ONLINE

2) Dog licenses can be obtained IN-PERSON at Hartland Township Hall (or you may submit your application by mail – see below). In either case, you will need proof that your dog is current on its rabies vaccination. The rabies vaccination must be valid for the entire length of the dog license. Important:

  • Make sure you bring (or mail) a copy of the actual rabies certificate signed by your vet, and NOT just the office receipt.
  • Bring PROOF that your dog has been spayed or neutered – the license will be less expensive!

NOTE: Your next license must be purchased by the end of the rabies expiration month or a late fee of $20 will be added to the cost of the license.
